There are 12 grams of sugar in a Verve Energy Shot, about what is found in a medium size orange. The primary sugar source for both is fructose. We use fructose, not to be confused with high fructose corn syrup, because it is an al -natural sweetener known to have the lowest Glycemic Index of any of the simple sugars. The Glycemic Index is a dietary index that's used to rank carbohydrate-based foods. It predicts the rate at which the ingested food wil increase blood sugar levels.
