They have previously served ministries in Minnesota, Ohio and Michigan. Bev is a church musician as well as a trained therapist, doing marriage and family counseling along with work in the area of domestic violence. They have made nearly 50 presentations of the Healthy Congregations material in church classis retreats and in pastor & staff workshops. Ben & Bev Becksvoort At the age of eight, Bethany declared that she would become a “missionary in the city”. What this exactly was or what it meant she was not sure; she only knew this was what God was calling her to do. Over the next many years, she has had the privilege of working with numerous non-profits, churches and city agencies focusing on urban ministry and community development. Bethany has her undergraduate degree in Urban Ministry from North Park University, her Masters of Divinity in Urban Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary Boston, and is currently finishing her Doctorate in Church and Community Development from Bakke Graduate University. She is a member of the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) and Communities First Association and is the executive director of the Chicago-based Bethany Dudley
nonprofit Requip NFP working with churches and other nonprofit organizations towards community transformation.
Dr. Robert Keeley is Professor of Education and chair of the Education Department at Calvin College where he teaches educational psychology and religious education in the elementary classroom. He received his Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Denver and has more than 30 years of experience working with children and young people in churches and schools. Dr. Keeley has published a number of articles, two mathematics textbooks and, along with his wife, Laura, has co-authored a number of Christmas plays and church school curricula for children. His latest book, Helping Our Children Grow in Faith: How the Church Can Nurture the Spiritual Development of Kids is published by Baker Books. Bob and Laura also serve as

Greg Scheer has composed over 500 pieces, songs and arrangements. His music is published by Augsburg Fortress, GIA, Abingdon, Abingdon Press, Worship Today and Faith Alive. Scheer is Vice President of the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers, and a member of Broadcast Music Incorporated, LicenSing, and Christian Copyright Licensing International. In 1993 he received an MA in composition and theory from the University of Pittsburgh. Since then he has served at Bellefield Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, and Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. At present he, his wife Amy, and their sons Simon and Theo live in Grand Rapids, Michigan where Greg is Minister of Worship at Church of the Servant and Music Associate at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Dr. H. David Schuringa is an ordained minister in the Christian Reformed Church. He is a graduate of Trinity Christian College (B.A.), Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia (M.A.R.; M.Div.), Calvin Theological Seminary (Th.M.) and the Theologische Universiteit te Kampen, The Netherlands (Ph.D.). Dr. Schuringa served as senior pastor of two established churches in West Michigan and planted a church in Southern California. He taught for nine years at Westminster Seminary California and served as an adjunct professor at Calvin Theological Seminary and Kuyper College in Grand Rapids. In 1999, Dr. Schuringa accepted the appointment
