West of England & South Wales Cat Society 23/08/08 Mrs Di Brown
My pleasure to be back here judging again, a busy day but a most enjoyable one, my thanks for the judging invitation. Mike Ralph travelled specially to steward for me and was a great help particularly when I had a couple of difficult cats to handle. I look forward to the next time Mike.
OPEN CLASSES A.C. GD CH Siamese/Balinese Adult Male IMPGD CC – Mort Williams’ IMP GD CH CHAIROSS DEMETRIUS (24b) 22/04/03. A very handsome and masculine boy looking particularly good today. I have handled this chap on numerous occasions and have little to add to my previous critiques. His points are marginally dark but with a good deal of warmth of tone, and his coat contrast continues to be excellent for a cat of this age. There is still some evidence of stud tail but it was much improved and, from my own experience, I know it is sometimes difficult to sort it out completely. A pleasure to handle, his temperament was exemplary as always. A.C. GD CH Siamese/Balinese Adult Female IMP GD CC – Green’s GD CH MAPU ALLEGRA (24n) 30/10/04. A quality lady, very elegant and stylish with excellent points colouring. Lovely head with very good top line and large well flared ears set to balance. Oriental eye shape and set with super colour, brilliant sapphire blue. Strong imposing profile with marginal bump between the eyes, deep firm chin, bite a little untidy but level. Long and slender body with good weight for size, dainty limbs and neat paws, tapered tail needs an inch to balance. Super sludgy toned, lilac-based caramel points, virtually matching. Lovely coat, almost clear of shading and the correct off-white shade, length and texture very good. A beautifully relaxed lady, perfectly presented in a nest bed. Oriental Fawn Adult Male CC – Haggar’s CH SUSPIRA SIMPLY SOLARUS 21/04/07. This chap has such an endearing temperament and is so easy to handle. Overall type good with short strong wedge that is beginning to develop jowls, top line good and with proportionate ears well set. Very good shape and set to eyes with clear mid green colour. Almost straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Very well muscled body of good length, weight very good for a medium sized cat, long limbs, tail needs a little more length. Colour looked rather yellow toned in the unhelpful lighting, the overall coat length was good but the texture was a touch greasy down the spine. This boy would appear to be fond of his own perfume and has obviously been bathing in it liberally, which may explain the colour and the coat texture. What was impressive for this colour was the complete lack of ghosting to the coat, and the soundness which was excellent, for these two things alone he is almost worth his certificate. Very friendly, bless him, pen presentation excellent. Oriental Spotted Tabby Adult Male CC – Chivers’ PLATON ATLANT SAHMET (38) 22/06/04. Overall this was an attractive lad, he was not without his imperfections but on balance worth his certificate today. Medium length wedge that was quite stylish, with good top of head and fairly large ears well set. Almond shaped eyes with attractive black eye liner,
colour olive green. Almost straight profile with broad nose, chin okay, bite a little untidy but level. Very long body, hard and lean, not light weight but could have been marginally better covered over the spine, good length to limbs with oval paws, tail almost balances. Spotted pattern generally good, there was a little linkage on one sid but it was fairly clear with the minimum of agouti invasion, spine line well broken, three necklaces evident, and overall it was mainly sound to roots, although I would have preferred the ground colour to have a little more warmth. Coat length and texture very good, sleek and close lying. Rather tense but not unfriendly. Excellently presented A.C. Oriental Longhair Adult Female Judges for BOB only and awarded – Taylor’s GD CH PIPPASTRO SILMARILIS (62 43s) 29/07/05. I do like the size and substance of this most attractive lady, and she is now a much more acceptable example of a shaded. Very good head for style and balance with very large beautifully furnished ears. Tiny dip to broad nose, firm chin and level bite. Well covered and perhaps slightly comfortable body of good length, strong limbs for a girl, tail almost balances. Coal black shaded pattern still marginally heavy but now nicely diffuse and showing very little clear spotting, with the silver undercoat pushing up for just under the two thirds. Coat length okay and texture excellent. Lovely to handle and excellently presented. Foreign White Neuter PC & BOB – Viggers’ SNOWSEAL COUNTRY CAT 21/06/07. Neuter boy of good overall type with maturity in keeping with age. Medium wedge, perhaps a touch narrow, ears large and well flared, set a mite close for balance. Oriental eye shape and set with mid blue colour. Almost straight profile and acceptable chin, bite very untidy, missing several incisors and appears marginally over. Very good length to body but rather too comfortably covered and really doesn’t need to get any heavier. Not only does it tend to make his head look small in proportion but it spoils his elegance somewhat, slender limbs and oval paws, good tail. Super coat, pristine white, beautifully prepared with lovely sleek close texture. A sweet tempered boy excellently presented. Oriental Tortoiseshell Neuter Judged for BOB only and awarded – Lee’s CH & IMP GD PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD (37p) 27/05/05. A very old friend indeed, who never seems to change. Lovely type and style with excellent colour and pattern, presented to perfection as always – what else is there to say? Seal Point Siamese Kitten Female 1st & BOB – Moss’ KAZTINE DELTA 04/03/08. Neat little female of good type and style. Medium length wedge with good top of head, ears large and well set. Oriental shape and set to eyes of mid blue colour. Straight profile, chin could be a little stronger but bite just about level, small pinch to muzzle. Firm and well covered body of good length, dainty limbs and neat spoon paws, whippy tail to balance. Warm dark seal points, tail very brindled, also showing clear ghost rings which is unusual in a seal. Soft fine baby coat still but managing to lie fairly close, very lightly shaded to tone. A dear baby to handle, excellently presented. 2nd- Grice’s ABICASA QUEEN OF SPADES 04/01/08. A large and very well developed female, type good but rather lacking style at present. Well balanced head with good top, ears large and well set. Eyes rather round, full and lacking oriental expression, colour bright mid blue. Slight dip to nose, firm chin and level bite. Good length and substance to body, strong limbs and spoon paws, well tapered tail to balance. Dark dense and slightly cool toned seal points, warmer on the front limbs, tail brindled at the root. Pale creamy coat with minimum shading to tone. Lovely to handle and beautifully presented Lilac Point Siamese Kitten Male 1st & BOB – Perrett’s SANDIMESE SILVER SHADOW 07/04/08. Good type to this lad who was beautifully grown and developed for age, I even went to check his date of birth with the show manager to make sure - even though his teeth were clearly those of a 4 and a half month old kitten. Medium wedge with good top of head and large ears very well set. Oriental eye shape and set with wicked expression and good colour. Strong profile and firm chin with level bite. Long strong and really substantial body for a kitten, long strong limbs and thunderous paws, he will be a really big chap by the time he has finished growing, good length tail to balance. Points colour pale but could ideally be a touch pinkier. Super coat for a baby, completely un-shaded magnolia with short sleek texture. Not the happiest of bunnies, he had quite a lot of rude things to say and was not that easy to handle. Very well presented. 2nd – Crumpler’s MYSYAMEEZ SPARKLER 30/03/08. This baby was also well grown, of good type. Medium length wedge, top of head needs a touch more width for balance, ears fairly large and set to follow. Oriental eye shape, setting marginally straight at present, colour good. Almost straight profile, good chin and bite. Promising length to body with good weight and tone, long limbs and tail. Soft mid lilac points, a little pinkish tone evident on ears and tail. Un-shaded magnolia coat of good close texture. A very friendly boy, excellently presented. Lilac Point Siamese Kitten Female 1st – Rudge’s SANDIMESE SILITAIRE 07/04/08. Litter sister to the male winner but daintier than her brother. Type good with fairly well balanced head, ears just about large enough but set well. Oriental shape and set to eyes, sporting a bit of a “Siamese look” at the moment, colour bright mid blue. Tiny dip to nose, good chin and bite. Firm and well covered body of good length, dainty limbs and neat spoon paws, whippy tail to balance. Points rather blue toned and coat marginally cool in tone, however the lighting was such that it would have been most unfair to penalise her for it, some very light shading evident down the spine, coat length and texture good. Not quite as cross as her brother but not too happy either. Excellently presented Red Point Siamese Kitten Male 1st BOB w/h – Dickinson’s ALFACENTORY MISTERS COOLDUDE 19/04/08. A well grown little boy of good type. Medium length wedge with good width between fairly large ears well set. Oriental eye shape and set, colour requires a good deal more depth. Quite a strong profile with broad nose, chin and bite good. Very good weight and substance to long body, long strong limbs and large paws, long whip to balance. Bright red points colour with minimum colour on limbs as yet. Soft fine baby coat in warm white, un-shaded. Very agitated in his pen so I assume it was his
first show, handled well in spite of this. Pity about the eye colour, excellently presented. Seal Point Siamese Neuter Male PC – Meek’s ABICASA MARIO LANZA 16/10/07. Young neuter boy of very good type, rather immature looking but acceptably so for 10 months. Stylish head with very good top line and large wide based ears set to balance. Basic eye shape good though has a tendency to hold wide, colour bright mid blue that ideally could be a touch deeper for a seal. Tiny dip to nose, good firm chin, bite scissored over, muzzle rather pinched. Long and elegant body with a lovely firm tone to it, long slender limbs and whip tail to balance. Good seal points with some degree of warmth to them. Pale beige coat of good length and texture, lightly shaded overall to tone. Lovely temperament, a very friendly boy, excellently presented. Seal Point Siamese Neuter Female PC & BOB – Lodwig’s PR KINGSOWEN ALLTHATJAZZ 30/12/04. A quality lady – apart from her language! Excellent head strength for a female with broad top line and very large flared ears set to balance. Oriental eye shape and set with very naughty expression and excellent deep blue colour. Almost straight profile with deep firm chin, bite untidy with several incisors missing, appeared level. Very good length and substance to body, firm and well toned, long elegant limbs, long whippy tail to balance. Dark, dense seal points with some warmth of tone apparent. Coat rather heavily shaded but contrast still seen, length and overall texture good. Not very pleased to see us but handled okay. Excellently presented. 2nd – Meek’s SHERMESE CHINA DOLL 08/06/07. Stylish female, unlucky to be up against the winner today. Medium length wedge with wide top and large nicely flared ears set to follow. Good shape and set to eyes with very good depth of colour and a hint of a squint now and then, however, the right eye was rather sore looking today. Uneven profile with quite a dip to nose, chin and bite good. Long slender and elegant body, dainty limbs and paws, good tail. Dense and slightly cool toned seal points. Creamy fawn coat with the lightest of shading, thus excellent contrast, good for length, texture and lying close. Easy to handle and beautifully presented Chocolate Point Siamese Neuter Male PC – Green’s CH BELROO PER FEQUE 15/04/03. A very handsome and stylish neuter with excellent points colour. Super head with broad top and huge ears excellently set, but with a tendency to hold low at times. Oriental eye shape and set with mid blue colour. Strong profile and firm chin, bite level but appeared to be sore, and as he was dribbling I called the vet who confirmed that his teeth needed attention. Very good substance and tone to long body, strong limbs of good length and spoon paws, good tail. Excellent points colour but as is often the case with pale chocolates, there was a fair amount of brindling to mask and tail. Coat quite heavily shaded for a pale chocolate but it toned with the points and there was still good contrast. Very sweet tempered, purred throughout. Excellent pen presentation. Judged for Bob & awarded – Harper’s CH & UK GD PR ABICASA BRAMBLE BEAR 16/11/00. Long time no see, a huge and very handsome fellow looking good for his 8 years. Strong head with very good top line, ears very large and excellently set. Oriental eye shape and set with gentle expression, colour beginning to fade out
now but is still acceptable. Almost straight profile and good chin, bite rather untidy with a few incisors missing. Comfortably covered body of good length, with obvious signs of good living but okay for an older boy, long strong limbs and long tapered tail to balance. Points colour on the dark side but showing good warm overtones and they almost matched with no brindling evident. Ivory coat of lovely close texture minimally shaded to tone thus excellent contrast for a cat of this age. Super to handle, hasn’t lost his touch with the judges I see! Excellently presented. Caramel Point Siamese Neuter Male PC & BOB – Hutchins PR WILLHAVETODO SIR PERCY 27/05/06. Another large chap of very good type. Longer head with very good top and large ears set to follow. Oriental eye shape, set and expression, colour mid blue and much improved than in his youth, which is often the case with Caramel points. Long straight and imposing nose with firm chin, level bite and marginal pinch to muzzle. Long weighty and substantial body with long strong limbs, tail needs a touch more length to balance and is a bit thick at the root. Excellent points colour, dark dingy toned lilac-based caramel with good brownish tones evident. Off white coat of very good length and close texture, lightly shaded, but with some evidence of plucking as he has a patch over the lower back where the fur has grown out dark. A dear boy to handle as always and excellently presented. Red Point Siamese Neuter Male PC – Wilkins’ ALFACENTORY FLAMINGO STAR 20/07/07. Young neuter boy of good type and style. Medium length head with good top line and ears of good size and set. Oriental eye shape and set with lovely brilliant blue colour. Slight dip to profile over nose, chin could be a mite stronger but bite level. Elegant body of good length, very slender, but firm toned and well covered, long elegant limbs and neat spoon paws, tapered tail almost balances. Bright red points with obvious colour on the front limbs. Superb coat qualities, beautifully sleek and close with the minimum of shading to tone. A very happy lad, enjoying his day out. Excellently presented. Judged for BOB – Wallace’s IMP GD PR ROZANDEN SIMBA MFALME 12/04/03. My lovely old friend, it is always good to see him, he is so very easy on the eye, and with his very good type and excellent points and eye colour, he is such a good example of what a Red point should be. Over the years he has changed little, he still retains all the qualities that won him his high title. He is obviously very well loved because he is always presented immaculately and has a temperament to die for. I look forward, hopefully, to the next time. A.C. Balinese Neuter Male PC – Durham’s APRIKAT SMILEY MOMENTS (61dt) 30/03/07. I must confess to finding this class a little difficult. Although this boy is the more stylish of the two boys entered in the Open class he does still look like a big baby and at 17 months is unlikely to gain very much more size. Stylish head with good top line, ears well furnished and flared, just about large enough to balance. Oriental eye shape, set and expression with very good depth of colour and brilliance of tone, and it was this that was the decider between the two boys. Almost straight profile and firm chin, bite level. Long body with good weight for size, strong limbs of medium length and neat well tufted paws, tail needs an inch to balance. Rich red tabby markings with very clear tail rings. Coat length generally good although the plume could be better
furnished, texture soft and fine but could be a touch more silky, minimally shaded. Rather cross today. Excellent presented. 2nd – Hart’s CH & PR HARTRIDGE HERSHEYKISSES (61b) 16/12/05. This lad was a much better size, but did rather lack the style and expression of the winner. Strong head with very good top and quite large ears very well set. Eyes full in shape, with a rather innocent expression but very good depth of colour. Dip to profile centre nose, good chin and bite. Long body with excellent substance and tone, long strong limbs and large well fluffed paws, good tail to balance. Chocolate points colour rather dark but there is a good deal of warmth of tone evident. Coat length generally good, could perhaps be a little longer down the sides but plume well furnished, texture fine and silky, a fair amount of shading over back. Lovely temperament, he is such a sweet boy. Excellently presented Judged for BOB & awarded – Hart’s CH & GD PR APRIKAT SKULDUGGERY (61t) MN 21/05/04. A familiar boy of excellent type and style. Very well balanced medium wedge with excellent top line and large beautifully furnished ears. Excellent eye shape and set with true Siamese expression and good blue colour. Profile a little uneven with flattish skull but nose good and straight, chin lines up and bite level. Very good substance to long body, long strong limbs and largish paws, tail a little short for balance. Dark dramatic tabby markings with double cheek ribbons and very well ringed tail. Coat length good and texture beautifully silky, fairly heavily shaded overall to tone but contrast still good. A pleasure to handle as always and excellently presented. END OF REPORT.
